Description

To be eligible for this position, applicants must  be registered with DSP at a local DSP office, be receiving a weekly Soc. Welfare payment (JB, JA, OPF, DA, Tus, Gateway, CE, JI, ex-prisoners, travellers in receipt of same, stabilised and recovering drug misusers)

  • Administration of all policy documents
  • To liaise with artist/performers and their agents prior to an events.
  • Ensure all artist requirements are adhered to pre-performance/pre-exhibition.
  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are adhered to by visiting companies and in-house staff in relation to fire safety, sound/lighting equipment and art installation equipment
  • Set up of equipment needed for sound checks and get-ins. Care of all technical equipment. Some technical repairs.
  • Operation of technical equipment, sound desk, lighting, laptop, projector etc.
  • Install art exhibitions in coordination with the artistic director.
  • Professionally wrap art works for collection by artist at the end of exhibition.
  • Prepare and wrap art for collection by buyers and liaise with box office team to ensure all works are paid for before leaving the building.
  • Liaise with the manager and other staff members to ensure a co-ordinated and efficient completion of all events from booking through to get-in/get-out.
  • Assist the artistic director in administration duties on fundraising ideas and develop commercial connections as well as keeping policy documents up to date.
  • Assist the caretaker from time to time with DIY repairs.

Other:-

  • Day Time: Front of House and reception duty required from time to time, generally be present and available to visitors, answer the phone, take bookings and light housekeeping
  • Evening events: FOH meet and greet, including ushering.
  • Responding to any other duties assigned by the artistic director

Person Specification – What You Bring To The Role:

Experience & Qualifications

  • Appropriate training, academic qualification and/or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of one years’ experience in an arts centre technician or production role.
  • Knowledge of sound and lighting equipment
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and the proven ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of policy documents and health and safety.
  • Experience with PR and marketing
  • Experience working with artists and their agents/management teams

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of dealing with the public
  • Excellent and proven IT skills with knowledge of all Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, outlook, website updates, ticketing systems, online surveys and social media.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team and to flexible working hours
  • Confidence in public speaking for duty management

Terms and conditions of employment

  • The position is for a three year contract, subject to continued funding and includes a 6 month probationary period.
  • This is a full time position of 39 hours per week exclusive of lunch. It is understood that at times you may be expected to work such hours as are necessary to support the workload in question. Any hours worked over the contracted hours per week may be taken in lieu with prior agreement with the board.
  • The position holds an entitlement of 20 days holiday per year, plus all public holidays.
