Shantallow Renewal Team - The 'Donkey Field'
Shantallow Renewal Team and Shantallow Community Residents Association are currently engaging in a major Arts project to develop artwork(s) in the area known locally as “the Donkey Field”. The project will include four differing elements;
Sculptural seating, Feature Boundaries, Mural, Interactive art element to encourage new usage of community space.
Artist/s will be required to hold consultations workshops, design and produce the art element/s
The consultation for each art element will include one public consultation event held in local community centre and workshops with the two local schools and the youth club. Shantallow Community Residents Association to send out invitations and organize the venues for the consultations.
Shantallow Community Residents Association wishes to invite applications from competent and experienced Artists, with proven experience in the delivery of public art through community engagement to undertake this project.
The mural will be designed by the local community, facilitated by the artist. Local artists, children and youth will be helping to implement the mural painting.
The total budget available inclusive of Artists fee, travel, consultation, design, fabrication, insurance, additional expenses, transport and installation and RoSPA approval on site is: £28,250 artist/s are invited to apply for all or one of the four elements of the commission listed above.
This budget will be released in agreed instalments to the successful artist in accordance with a formal contract with Shantallow Community Residents Association.
Applications should be marked “The Donkey Field” and be returned no later than 12 noon on 20th of February 2009
