Young Irish Film Makers are looking for two people with the passion and experience to work together in the area of personal and employable skills development through digital media and filmmaking as a youth arts practice.  These positions are an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established organisation working in a unique way with young adults in the area of digital media, film and related studies.

The YIFM Digital Media is a successful Local Training Initiative running a major award at QQI level 5.  The programme supports young people from marginalised or disadvantaged backgrounds, creating pathways into further education, training and employment.  With strong retention and progression rates for learners, this unique LTI has become very popular amongst young creatives and those who find themselves outside the formal education route.

These two roles will form the coordination team responsible for maintaining and building on a successful training programme in the youth development / informal education sector.  See attached job specifications for details of each role.

About Young Irish Film Makers

Founded in 1991 Young Irish Film Makers (YIFM) is a unique and innovative national organisation that aims to foster creativity, develop talent and embed lifelong skills in young people through the youth arts practice of filmmaking.  Nationally, YIFM have developed and implemented numerous creative workshops in filmmaking, digital media and now animation, with a particular focus on training young people from disadvantaged areas.  These active learning workshops and projects provide much needed transversal skills for the next generation of young filmmakers and digital content creators.

YIFM now work with over 1500 young people annually across Ireland.  Demand is growing as YIFM film making workshops are recognised for their ability to deliver high quality outcomes for young people.  Many young people use the creative skills gained with YIFM to go on to third level film, media production and animation courses in Ireland and abroad.  Those who don’t remain in the audiovisual sector, take with them all the life skills they have learned from their time working with YIFM.  Skills such as teamwork, communication skills, collaborative working, critical thinking and problem solving.
